Comcast, 13 years
The Xfinity Stream HD video player on desktop and Chromecast, and the tools that found out why playback broke.

- Thirteen continuous years on the Xfinity Stream player team, first as an embedded consultant and from October 2017 as a Comcast engineer.
- Led Chromecast from MVP to production with the Google Cast team, and built both the sender and a custom receiver.
- The playback diagnostics and debugging tools I built spread to QA, engineering, support and partner teams because they were useful in P1 incidents.
- Over 1,800 commits in the Chromecast repository.
The Xfinity Stream player ran in desktop browsers and on Chromecast. I wrote JavaScript on Polymer and Lit Element web components, the unit tests, and the hooks into the Stream player. On Chromecast that meant cast-session parity between sender and receiver, audio and subtitle selection, scrubbing, and what the viewer sees when playback fails.
I read the core player platform's TypeScript nearly every day, managed the roadmap for fitting Stream into it, and pushed the occasional change there.
When a P1 playback incident came in, the question was always which device, which network and which market. The diagnostics and telemetry I built turned raw playback data into numbers that people outside engineering could act on.
